(I am at my aunt’s place at a family gathering. My uncle has had problems with his memory for some time and has recently lost his driver’s license after getting lost while trying to find a hospital he’s never been to. We are discussing how the police are probably conducting sobriety checks on the main roads due to a national holiday and somehow the topic shifts to us getting into a car so that my tee-total uncle could get pulled over for a sobriety check.)
Mom: “But didn’t the doctor take your license away?”
Uncle: “Yeah, but I still have the temporary one I got from the Länsman.” *more or less the same as Sheriff*
Mom: “It doesn’t matter; the doctor said she’d make sure the whole police department would get notified that you aren’t allowed to drive.”
Me: “Meh, let’s just claim [Uncle] forgot and the rest of us don’t know.”
